Last Week of Summer Vacation
While Sunday marked the official last day of summer, I wanted to share a peek into our last week of summer vacation, which was back in August.
Cam's last week of summer vacation was a rare treat. The summer had been filled with vacations, farm camps, and a week of overnight camp, but I had planned nothing specific for Cam's final week. I knew Brooke would be in daycare, which opened up the possibility for me to gear it towards activities better suited for 9-year-olds without adding a toddler to the mix.
I also left room for boredom, which I think got him excited to actually return to school. :)
I'm so thankful for the quality time we get to spend together. When I had Brooke, I was definitely mindful that Cam would no longer receive as much of my attention and wanted to be intentional about spending time with just him.
My work load was light, so I took two days of PTO so I could spend extra time with him, and on the other days he just stayed home with me while I worked.
Monday:
We went to Wet n' Wild Emerald Pointe!
This is our second time visiting the water park with my friend Brittany and her kids. Such a fun day! The weather was perfect. I was so impressed with how brave the kids were - Cam and Clarke did all the slides, even Daredevil Drop! We had so much fun and this day was for sure a highlight of the summer.
Tuesday-Thursday:
The neighborhood kids were already back at school, but they did get to play together in the afternoons. Cam did a lot of TV watching and video games I'm sure while I worked. We also completed a 1,000 piece puzzle, so that was fun!
We went to Chick-fil-a for lunch for one of the days. It was SUPER crowded due to a nearby high school having an early release day. We also went to pick up his completed project from Klaystation, a pottery painting place we have visited one afternoon the previous week.
We had his "Meet the Teacher" night at school and went to Gonza to eat afterwards. We also went to Target for back to school shopping for supplies.
Friday:
On his last weekday of summer vacation, we stopped at the bait and tackle store for some worms, then headed to one of our favorite little beach spots - Blue Jay Pointe - at Falls Lake.
We were the only ones there that afternoon, which reminded me of the times I used to take him to this same spot when he was 4 years old (during the Covid lock down era). We had no success fishing, but afterwards we stopped by a sweet little antique shop with local crafts and ice cream. It was the perfect ending to a nice afternoon with my favorite son. :)

Thankfully, I had nothing to worry about. :) It's working out just fine!
