Running in the Hood

Yesterday was Day #1 of Couch-to-5K for me and my friend Ame. She asked that I help motivate her to run a 5k because she and her coworkers at 919 Magazine are running the race together on Mother's Day.

I'm in pretty good shape right now, but I definitely haven't been running in a couple of years. The last time I ran by choice was in 2010 when Brandon and I ran a 5K. What's laughable in that blog post is that I mentioned something about how we would later be running a 10K in Cary (?).

I dream big - I'll leave it at that.

Anyhow, I downloaded a Couch-to-5K app on my iPhone and I have the honor of being Ame's accountability partner. I definitely think we'll be running 3.1 miles in no time....
technically nine weeks time.

Today I went on a run through our neighborhood and was reminded that Brian and I live in such a gorgeous area. When we first moved here back in November, we were mostly attracted to the large, secluded lot at the end of a cul-de-sac. The location was ideal and we loved the house, but we never took much time to really explore our neighborhood.

We really lucked out! So many of the houses in our neighborhood are truly spectacular. There's a lot of unique architecture and a whole lot of charm! There's no busy streets and rarely any cars passing through. I also love the lake that's behind our house. Once the warmer weather gets here, I'll start looking forward to more long walks with my walking buddy.

Here's a few of the houses in the hood. Yes, I took pictures of some houses. Is that even legal? I'm not sure. I was just hoping that nobody was watching my from their window 'cause that would've been weird.

I do weird things, what can I say?

Best house on the block....

:-)
