April Goals

Happy April!

My calendar this month is very full. Between Spring Break, Easter, baseball, and birthdays, it looks like I'll be staying very busy, but I'm looking forward to all the fun things planned with friends and family.

We took a little trip to the mountains this past weekend, and I was feeling very grateful that we are in a sweet spot right now with our kids. I know it won't last forever. Cam is at that perfect age where he enjoys spending time with us and his little sister, and she is finally old enough to talk and play with him too.

Now more than ever, I want to be fully present, more patient, and appreciate the opportunity I have to parent them right now at this stage of life. Cam spends his days playing outside with friends, coming home muddy and exhausted. I want to remember the way Brooke runs down the hallway to bed each night in her pajamas with her little feet moving as fast as they can. These are the days!

On the Calendar this Month

1. Easter everything! Good Friday, Easter baskets, dyeing eggs, church, egg hunts, Sunday lunch with family. I have a 4-day weekend and I am looking forward to all the fun things we do in celebration of the resurrection of our Savior.

2. Cam's baseball games! His first of the 10-game season starts on April 8!

3. A date night with Brian :)

What I Read in March

1. Metabolical: The Lure and Lies of Processed Food  This book was so informative, easy to read the science-heavy chapters, and overall influenced me to change my diet in many ways. Highly recommend! Everyone needs to read this book.

2. I just finished Deuteronomy yesterday morning, so I have officially read the first 5 books of the Old Testament (the Torah) in 3 months! I'm feeling good about my Bible reading pace this year.

3. "The Ghost Next Door" - my nightly Goosebumps book with Cam!

4. Alone in Antarctica  I think you all know by now that I love a good non-fiction expedition book, and this is one of those! I'm about halfway done. It's very good, but probably hasn't captured me as much as "Into Thin Air," which was about Mt. Everest.

What I'm Loving Lately

1. Brooke being potty-trained. Of course it's easier to just deal with diapers versus the actual transition to potty training, but I'm glad that I made the decision to switch to underwear and that I'm rolling with it the best I can. The decision on when to potty train her had been lingering over me. Since the day care discouraged me from doing it in January which was my original plan (they wanted to wait until she moved up to the bigger classroom), I had been stressed because I knew that the March/April timing would run right into a lot of vacations and activities. We had to stop 4 times for Brooke to pee on our 3 hour driving to Boone last weekend, ha! I just need to make the best of it and have an attitude of gratitude.

Recalling one of my favorite wisdoms: make a decision and then make it the right one.

And also: this too shall pass. :)

April Goals

1. Order the photo books and finish the baby books! Gosh, this keeps rolling over but I keep putting it on my list because it's something that is important for me to complete.

2. Good news is my new passport came in about one week! Amazingly fast! Sadly there were no Real ID appointments available in any NC county near me for the foreseeable future, but I do think I'll just go to the DMV one afternoon this month and try to get it done.

3. Tweak my morning routine (and, first, brainstorm what I want it to look like).
