Sermon Note #1
Sermon Note: The best use of my time is to spend it loving people.
How can I show love today? Is it something already on my to-do list? Packing a lunch box? Waking up my toddler with a cheerful smile? Letting a car merge in traffic? I commit to seeking opportunities to be more loving, whether it's incorporating more love into my normal routines or adding something new to my plate.
Showing love often looks different for everyone - males, females, children, spouses, strangers. Sometimes it's as simple as saying "I love you" or asking "what can I do for you today?" Let's not make life harder than it already is!
"Loving people" will look different during each stage of my life, and most of the people I love will be those closest to me, both physically and relationally. My family, my friends, my colleagues, my community; each of us has a sphere of influence. May I never underestimate the power of a simple act of love.
I give myself grace knowing I can't do it all, but if I continually pray for God to reveal opportunities to love people - whomever, however - He will deliver every time. That's a guarantee.
